Temporary Orders
In divorce cases, depending on the situation we can request temporary orders, which require a hearing and/or mediation. Temporary Orders are orders which are put in place to address the issues that will arise in the time between the period that the spouses separate and the time that the divorce is finalized, in other words, while the divorce is pending.
Some of the issues may include, but are not limited to, equalizing the parties’ access to financial resources earned during the marriage, possession of property, payment of debts, child support, conservatorship, medical support, access and possession of the children, and spousal support.
The goal of the court in a temporary order is to maintain the parent-child relationship between each child and both parents and bring equanimity, to some extent, between the parties to prevent spoilage, transfer, or loss of property.
